Our ‘Team’ approach means that our Medical, Clinical and Administration Teams work together to provide each patient with what they need. Addiction and mental illness are medical conditions that need to be treated medically and with counseling. It’s this combination of treatment (dual diagnosis) that sets us apart from other treatment facilities.
The mission of Tellurian has remained unchanged since it began providing services in 1971. Tellurian specializes in substance abuse and chemical addiction treatment, with an emphasis on co-occurring mental health disorders. Many patients struggling with substance abuse have accompanying mental health or behavioral health issues, such as depression, anxiety disorders, or post-traumatic stress disorders. To support these patients and most effectively address their disease, mental health counseling is integrated into the treatment regimen. The Tellurian Medical Director, a specialist in addiction medicine and member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), provides medical oversight, including health screens and diagnosis of underlying health issues. Psychiatric care is provided as appropriate or recommended, assuring that any co-occurring mental health issues are identified and treated along with the addiction. Men and women are housed in separate living areas, have separate common areas, and participate in separate, but similar, treatment regimens.
