The Tellurian Willy Street SRO (Single Room Occupancy) Supportive Housing Program provides permanent housing and support services to homeless and chronically homeless adults diagnosed with mental health disorders. These individuals may have co-occurring alcohol and other drug abuse problems. Located at 1051 Williamson Street in Madison, Wisconsin, the SRO program is operated in conjunction with the Tellurian Community Intervention Team (CIT). The Willy Street SRO has 15 fully furnished single rooms, two of which are handicap accessible. On-site support includes two part-time case managers and one part-time janitor. The Willy Street SRO is funded with the assistance of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and under HUD guidelines rent is based on 30 percent of a resident's adjusted gross income. Rent includes cable and all utilities with the exception of phone. Admissions are prioritized according to the most chronically homeless, those with a verifiable disability, and those with the least resources/services. The SRO Case Manager maintains a waitlist when there are no immediate openings.
